There are two ways to live. Living by the flesh ends in death. Living by the Spirit ends in life (Rom 8:13).

We owe the flesh nothing (8:12).

Being led by the Spirit is what marks someone as a child of God (8:14).

Galatians says it is already done

Those who belong to Christ have crucified the flesh, with its passions and desires (Gal 5:24).

If we live by the Spirit, we should keep in step with him (5:25).

The next verse makes it concrete. No conceit. No provoking one another. No envying one another (5:26). Paul goes straight from theology to how you treat the people in the room.

An apology needs a change

An apology is worth as much as the behaviour that changes after it.

Saying sorry and carrying on is just words. Keeping in step with the Spirit is the change.

People read your life

People will know us by what our lives produce (cf. Matt 7:16-20).

For many of them, our lives are the only Bible they will read. Paul calls believers a letter from Christ, written by the Spirit and read by everyone (2 Cor 3:2-3).
