John 1:4-5.
The light shines in the darkness. The darkness has not comprehended it, or overcome it.
The Greek word, katalambanō, allows both readings. Both are true. Darkness neither understands the light nor puts it out.
Isaiah 9:2: the people who walked in darkness have seen a great light.
Those who receive the light become part of the new creation (2 Cor 5:17).
